Rota Kids Picnic

The Student Council headed off to Towcester Primary School on Wednesday for a picnic with the Councils from Towcester and Paulesbury. We were extremely well looked after by Towcester Primary and thank them for their hospitality. Before our picnic began we shared ideas and reviewed the work we had done this year on our Councils.

We then worked in teams with members of the other schools to build dens! The children worked so well together and had great fun trying to construct some amazing shelters. The strong gusts of wind and showers added to the challenge – with lots of laughter and a healthy competitive spirit.

After all that activity appetites were growing and the children were delighted to see a wonderful picnic spread provided by Towcester Rotary Club.

Thank you to all involved.

Guide Dogs Assembly

Student Council were delighted to welcome The Guide Dogs association to give our assembly on Thursday morning.

Hazel, a local fund-raiser for the charity brought with her Rachel and her very important companion, Nikika, an adorable black labrador.

After many ohs and aahs from the children admiring Nikita and with surprise to see a dog in the school hall we heard from Hazel about how the charity works. Rachel then talked about how a guide dog is the “eyes” of a blind person.

The Student Council had already voted to support this charity by sponsoring 3 puppies for the next 12 months. We, of course, need to your help to support our  fund-raising activities.

Thank you Student Council, Sienna and Imogen.

Guide Dogs for the Blind

Two of our year 6, Sienna and Imogen, requested a meeting with the Student Council to present an idea for the Council to consider.

The plan is to support the Guide Dogs charity by sponsoring a puppy. The Council voted unanimously in favour. We are now awaiting a visit from the charity to present an assembly.

Snowdrops and Primulas

image image

Last week, on a very cold and wet Thursday morning, the Student Council braved the weather to help with another gardening project.

Together with the WI and SNC, the SC planted snow drops and Primulas along side the path next to the Forum.

If you are about this area over the next few weeks do have a look and let the blog know how it is looking.
